People Say the Nicest Things About Ingersoll Place
By Ceil Mack, Freelance Writer
As a storyteller and writer, I love getting phone calls from Claire Oliver, Marketing Director at Ingersoll Place. Not only does Claire have great story ideas, she also has residents, family members and staff at the ready to share their thoughts about the organization and its people. Several of the comments below are reprints from our 2024 newsletters; others were submitted by family members to the “Place for Mom” website. Still others appeared in thank you notes to Ingersoll’s administration and staff including one from an appreciative family whose mother just celebrated her 100th birthday. What follows are some of the nicest things people are saying about Ingersoll Place.
“We’re like a family at Ingersoll and we want the residents to feel like this is their home. I like knowing I’ve helped them and when I go home at night, I can be happy, too.” Rosheny Mangru, Dining Room Supervisor.
“One of the toughest and best decisions I ever made has flourished because of everyone at Ingersoll. Mom is truly at home again. Thank you! Michael, Resident’s Son
“It’s an honor for me to start this journey as President of the Ingersoll Place Board of Trustees. The Ingersoll team provides a loving and professional service to our residents. Because of the staff commitment, assuming this role was an easy decision for me.” Kevin Walsh, President
“We are so blessed to have our mom in your care. Ingersoll has brought such peace to our family. Our deepest gratitude to all of you for your excellence and most of all, your heart. With love, Patti, Carol and Paul.” Note: Their mother Rose recently celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by generations of her loving family and in the photo at top, with Kamryn Fatato, Activities Assistant and Christina Benardo, Activities Director.
”I was here (at Ingersoll Place) supervising high school students for several days. I am very impressed with their facility. The staff are attentive and polite. The facility is very clean and comfortable. The residents were also very nice.” Adam, BOCES Instructor
“I’ve known sadness and what it’s like to be alone. Being able to bring joy to others and make people smile has made a real difference in my life. I wake up happy. I come to work with a heart filled with love. I know if I laugh, others will laugh, too. They’ll sing with me, dance with me. Without a doubt, I was meant to be here in this loving, welcoming place.” Tiya Jones, Housekeeper; 2024 Runner-up, You Make A Difference Award
“Ingersoll Place has been a blessing for our family. We weren’t expecting to need assisted living for our dad this soon. They made the transition easy and helped us through the process with kindness and understanding.” Janice, Resident’s Daughter
In recognition of the 100th Anniversary of Ingersoll Place and its services to the community, “I Gary McCarthy, Mayor of the City of Schenectady, do hereby proclaim Thursday, September 12, 2024, as Ingersoll Place Day in the City of Schenectady.” Excerpt from official proclamation
“I know there are a lot of wonderful people working behind the scenes to make my life easier and keep this place running efficiently. They do a great job.” Jim, Resident
“From the time I was a kid, I wanted to work at Ingersoll. My mother worked here for over 30 years and I had always been a part of it. During high school, I was hired as a receptionist and grew so fond of the residents, I wanted to be a caregiver. With financial assistance from Ingersoll, I got my certificate in health studies. I’ve been here for 10 years. I’m a Unit Leader and am back to furthering my career to become an LPN. I could not have done it without the help of my Ingersoll Place family. It’s so much more than a job. We are a family!” Alesha Evans, Upper East Unit Leader
